Become a volunteer

Singapore Disability Sports Council is the national sports body for the disabled in Singapore. It is dedicated to providing sports and recreational activities to people with disabilities.

SDSC's goal is to enrich the quality of life of its members through sports. With 18 member organisations, it reaches out to over 15, 000 disabled persons including the physically disabled, the visual-impaired, the intellectually disabled, the hearing-impaired and people with cerebral palsy.

Mission

“Our mission is to enable our disabled sports persons to realise their individual potential by providing with the opportunity to participate and excel in sports both recreationally and competitively.”

Volunteer Activities & Programmes

Fun to Play workshop

We need you to come forward and realise the disabled athletes' dreams in sports. We aim to reach out to the best disabled sportsmen and sportswomen, facilitate their participation in the international sports events. They are:

Olympics’ Level

  • IFDS World Disabled Sailing Championships
  • Commonwealth Games
  • FESPIC Games / Championships
  • ASEAN Para Games

Local Competitions

  • National Swimming Championships
  • National Track and Field Championships

Other Activities and Programmes

  • Event: Singapore Soccer Challenge (Adhoc)

    Date: 8 November, Saturday

    Time: 9am – 5pm

    Venue: Football Field, SAFRA Tampines

    Address: 1/A Tampines Street 92

    No of volunteers: 30

    Areas of task: Coordinate and arrange for teams to compete. Be referees as such if they are familiar with the game.

  • Event: 2nd Sports Orientation Camp 2008 (Adhoc)

    Date: 4 – 6 December 2008 (Thursday – Saturday)

    Time: 11.00am (Report time for participants on 1st day), 3.00pm (Release time for volunteers)

    Venue: Singapore Poly

    No of volunteers: 20

    Areas of task: Be part of the camp as a facilitator and help out in games and activities

    Criteria: Committed for the 3 days 2 nights camp, attend the 3-4 trainings conducted, responsible, initiative, willingness to help Fees: $15 (inclusive of 3 meals, accommodation, t-shirt)

  • Sports Training (Long term commitment)-Boccia

    Date: Every Saturday

    Time: 9am – 1pm

    Venue: Cerebral Palsy Centre, Pasir Ris Drive 1

    No of volunteers: 5

    Criteria: Committed and patient, able to have an open mind to help the cerebral palsy athletes, responsible

  • Event: SDSC Flag Day 2009

    Date: 7 March 2008, Saturday

    Time: 9am – 6pm

    Venue: Islandwide

    No of volunteers: 110

    Areas of task: 10 Committee members – Role will to be plan and organise the flag day.

    80 Centre managers – Role will be to manage centre location, distribute and collect back of tins, ensure students and individuals register and return the tins after the event. All tins to be delivered back to office by drivers

    10 Drivers – Role will be to distribute the tins to the respective centre locations and collect back of tins by the designated time

    10 Driver Assistant – Role will be to coordinate with the Centre Managers to arrange for collection and returning of tins back to Operation Centre.

    Criteria: Have events and activities background, responsible, trustworthy

    A committee of 10 volunteers is needed to start of with the team.
