15 Gold, 9 Silver & 9 Bronze Medals for Singapore After Day 5 of the 3rd ASEAN Para Games 2005

Singapore has collected 15 Gold, 9 Silver and 9 Bronze medals at the 3rd ASEAN Para Games in Manila, Philippines.

Singapore’s contingent has already surpassed the 2nd ASEAN Para Games 2003 medal tally of 19 medals, where 10 Gold, 8 Silver and 1 Bronze medals were won in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Our swimmers have won a total of 11 Gold, 4 Silver and 6 Bronze medals. The Track & Field athletes added 4 Gold, 5 Silver and 3 Bronze medals to Singapore’s tally.  Our contingent also achieved a further 6 Gold, 4 Silver and 3 Bronze medals in New Events, which are not included in the official medal tally.

Currently, the official medal tally stands at 33. When unofficial medals are taken into account, our athletes have exceeded the medal target of 38 medals with 47 medals won.

The ASEAN Para Games is the equivalent of the SEA Games and Singapore has sent a contingent of 30 athletes to compete in the Track and Field, Wheelchair Tennis, Sailing and Swimming events. Almost all the athletes who are representing Singapore in Manila will be returning home with a medal to show for their efforts.

The competition will come to a close today, with the Singapore contingent due to arrive back tomorrow via flight SQ 73 at 5.45pm.
