Theresa Goh stormed to the gold medal for Singapore and rewrote the world record in the 50m (SB4) Breaststroke with a timing of 52.62 seconds in the 4th ASEAN Para Games held in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
Theresa first set a new world record in 50m (SB4) Breaststroke with 53.60s back in March last year at the Danish Open 2007. She later rewrote the world record with 52.94s at the 21st International German Championship 2007 held in May. With her new personal best of 52.62s, Theresa gave the first day of competition at the 4th ASEAN Para Games a grand finale as she again rewrote the 50m (SB4) Breaststroke world record.
She will be competing next in the 200m Freestyle and the 100m Breaststroke on Wednesday and Friday respectively.
A total of nine swimmers represented Singapore at the swimming pool of His Majesty The King’s 80th Birthday Anniversary stadium on the first day of competition. The team reaped 2 Golds, 1 Silver and 2 Bronzes, raking in the total medal tally for 21 January to 3 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.
