Sunday 19 Nov 2006, 3 - 4pm, Singapore Expo Hall 4B
This hands-on workshop is designed to encourage parents to play with their children with special needs. Parents will learn how to adapt everyday play equipment so that children with special needs can be successful and enjoy games and play activities. Different ways of providing assistance, instructions and encouragements will be shared during the workshop. Strategies for behaviour management will also be emphasised. Parents will also be introduced to some of the existing physical activity or sports programmes available in Singapore.
Because of the nature of the group and the venue restrictions, only children with intellectual disability and mild physical disability are encouraged to attend. Children with mild physical disabilities who are in wheelchairs or require ambulatory aids can be registered for the workshop. Unfortunately, this workshop will not be able to accomodate children with severe multiple handicaps, autism disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
