As you may already know, the Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC) reaches out to all disability groups in Singapore, offering a wide range of sports, such as track and field, goalball, soccer and boccia.
However, we constantly encounter a major problem in carrying out our mission – Transportation. Believe it or not, it can cost up to $1400 for transportation per month for a disabled student to attend school!
Due to the lack of ready transportation and heavy costs, many disabled individuals forgo the benefits of sports, including keeping themselves healthy and active. Therefore, to make sports more accessible to the disabled, SDSC is setting out with “Sports on Wheels”.
This year, our Sports Team will be out in our “Sports on Wheels” vans to bring sports to people with disabilities, so that they no longer have to wait for an opportunity to come to us. The Team will be bringing down the sports to schools, rehab centres and other places where we can reach out to more people with disabilities, as well as others who would like to know more about disability sports.
YOU can also be part of this meaningful event! Yes, you heard us right! We would like to invite you to help us to come up with creative designs for the vans. Send us your design for the Sports-on-Wheels initiative now and you might see your design on the streets when our vans travel around Singapore to spread the sporting life! Not only that, you could be the one to win an amazing prize sponsored by Hewlett Packard Singapore!
What you’ll need to do
Simply follow these 3 easy steps to win those fabulous prizes:
1. Design a mascot or logo that gives a strong identity to the “Sports on Wheels” initiative
2. Create a design theme for “Sports on Wheels” – Describe to us, in 300 words or less, about your design theme
3. Apply your design theme to our “Sports on Wheels” vans – Draw and colour on our van template to let us see how your theme works! Template can be found at http://www.sdsc.org.sg/download/Sports-On-Wheels_Template.pdf (304 KB)
Still clueless as to what to do? Here are some tips on how to win!
Be unique and original! We will be driving to as many places as we can to let people with disabilities have a chance to play sports. Let your theme tell everyone that “Sports on Wheels” is coming, by just one look!
Be versatile! Your design theme will not only be used on our vans, but also on other merchandise, gifts and collaterals related to Sports on Wheels, such as bags, mugs and fans. So let the theme be exciting! Your creations can be anywhere!
Be expressive! Convince us why your design is the one we are looking for!
