Truth or dare? Most of us would probably choose to tell the truth, unless we are in a really wild mood. To accept a dare and complete it takes a lot of guts, confidence, and will. So, unless we are feeling a little crazy, most of us would choose, ironically, the easier way out to divulge our innermost secrets, rather than accepting a dare that could spark a million possibilities.
Having said that, we hope that this first DARE is one which you will welcome.
Yes, it took us a lot of guts to give SDSC’s e-newsletter a new name. After building a loyal following of more than 600 subscribers to our e-newsletter and 12 endearing issues of SDSC Touch which we began in May 2006, we made a breaking decision. We decided to change the name of our enewsletter at its one-year anniversary.
Nonetheless, we are ready to take this leap. With the new DARE, we hope to bring the sports fraternity, volunteers and donors closer to us. The forthcoming issues no longer focuses on spreading just the word of what’s happening in the local sports scene, but challenges you, our friend, to embark on some action.
As with truth or dare, dares are usually made to target matters that the challenger is thought to be unable to accomplish. So whenever a challenger completes a dare, he or she elicits much respect from peers.
Similarly for people with disability, sports are something that regular people hardly expect them to participate in. Yet, many a times, they overcome obstacles, defy the odds, and show even stronger resilience to achieve their goals, aspirations and dreams.
For us and them, dares only help to bring out the best and turn the seemingly impossible into an extraordinary accomplishment.
We hope that this DARE will give you another unforgettable experience.
Enjoy.
