From International Paralympic Committee (IPC)
14 February 2008
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Governing Board is opposed to offering medal events at IPC sanctioned competitions that combine sports classes for athletes with a visual impairment and blind together with those of other sport classes in head-to-head competition.
It recognizes however, that there are certain sports, eg, Sailing and Rowing, which may by their very nature allow or encourage such combination in a multi-sports class team event.
In addition, the Governing Board would seek to discourage any member from undertaking such combination with the exception of those specific sports mentioned.
