The Arafura Games is an international sporting competition started in 1991 for developing athletes of the Asia-Pacific region. Held biennially in Darwin, the Games attract competitors from all parts of Australia, Asia-Pacific and beyond.
Seven sports were offered to disabled athletes this year: Athletics (Track & Field + 10km Wheelchair Road Race), Cycling (Road Race, Time Trial and Criterium), Powerlifting (Men and Women), Table Tennis (Individual singles, open doubles and team events), Wheelchair Basketball (7-Nation Paralympics Qualifying Event) and Wheelchair Tennis (Open Singles and Open Doubles).
The SDSC Team Manager, Mr. Nur Azarudin went to the games with 5 of our athletes; Discus Thrower Mawjit Singh, Runner Nazariah Btw Ahmadini and Swimmers Lieu Teck Hua, Khristine Quek and Liu Xin Yan.
