Ontario, Canada
The inaugural combined Access Class World Championships will be hosted by the Whitby Yacht Club of Ontario, Canada from August 30 to September 5.
This is the first combined World Championships for the popular Access classes (2.3, 303, Liberty & SKUD). The championships are open to sailors of all ages and abilities and there will be both single and two-person divisions for the International Access 2.3 and Access 303, along with single person Liberty divisions for open and servo-equipped boats.
The two-person SKUD18 will sail an International Regatta in conjunction with the Worlds. A number of crews vying for national Paralympic team selection will use the SKUD event at Whitby to prepare for the IFDS Combined World Sailing Championships commencing September 7 in Rochester, New York.
Entries are now firming up for the Access Worlds, with 6 nations already participating and more expected. A large contingent is expected from Australia, along with entries from the USA, Great Britain, France, Hungary, India and Japan in addition to the local Canadian competitors.
