Athletics Classification Seminar 2007

The Disability Classification & Research Centre (DCRC) will be holding a 2-day Athletics Classification Seminar Course in conjunction with the soft launch of the 1st DCRC in the world.  The course will be conducted for participants in the ASEAN and Asia regions in preparation of the upcoming Asean Para and Paralympic Games in 2008. It is also part of a broader effort to help raise Paralympic sports’ standards in the region.

Content
The working language of the course will be English but the content is highly visual and practical. This course will be an elementary and intermediate course which will introduce the IPC Athletics Classification system.

Target Audience
The course hopes to attract participants from Asian countries with a vision of aiding the professional and classification development of Paralympic Sports, particularly in athletics. However, participants from outside Asia are most welcome to register.

Eligibility
Participants should have either:
- a degree or equivalent qualification in medicine, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, physical education or exercise/sport science
- or have nationally-recognised athletics coaching qualifications
- or have competed at IPC World Athletics Championships or Paralympic Games.

Fees
Foreign participants - $100USD. Participants must cover own airfare and accommodation costs.

About DCRC
DCRC is an independent entity that is first of its kind in Asia to develop athletes’ programs, technical expertise and grow disability sports capabilities through the conduct of workshops and seminars and the undertaking of research in the area of sports and equipment development. The DCRC will also be providing technical, training, coaching development programs and classification through regular classification courses & workshops.
