Origins of Boccia
Boccia is a sport that has its origins in ancient Greece where competitors threw large stones at a target, with the objective to get them as close as possible to the target. It gradually evolved into the highly competitive sport that is known as Boccia today. It is commonly played by those with cerebral palsy and other neurologically-affected physical disabilities. However with its uncomplicated rules and highly climatic game-play, Boccia is truly a sport that transcends all ages and disabilities.
We urge you not to miss out on this golden opportunity to be part of this sporting extravaganza that will be happening right here in Singapore.
Objectives of this competition
• To enhance international relations and friendships for better regional co-operation and solidarity.
• To provide the disabled with opportunities to train, participate and excel in sports for local, regional and international competitions
• To increase public awareness of and promote widespread support for the sporting and recreational needs of the disabled community in Singapore
