Mobilising the Paralympic Movement: Towards Development and Sustainability

The Classification and Disability Sports Technology Conference (CDSTC) aims to engage leading professionals in an active discussion of disability sports issues at all levels to ensure its sustenance and progress in the 21st century. CDSTC 2008 will deliver relevant information, ideas and strategies to assist organisations to expand their reach and develop their capabilities and deliverables of disability sports in Asia.

Call for Papers

The conference addresses current and future developments in the fields of Classification, Sports Training and Sports Science. Topics may include, but not limited to:

- Disability sports in Asia
- Sports opportunities for athletes with disabilities in Asia
- The evolution of disability sports in Asia versus the West
- Understanding sports coaching
- Creating a framework for disability sports coaching
- Managing athletes with disabilities
- Communicating with athletes with disabilities
- Lessons from Paralympics 2008 - Preparing for Paralympics 2012
- Innovation and delivery in disability sports training
- International trends in disability sports education
- Talent identification
- Function-enhancing equipment for athletes with disabilities
- Activity-specific equipment
- Equipment adaptations for disability sports
- New rehabilitation and techniques for assistive technology products
- Studies and research on disability sports assistive equipment

Important Dates

Submission of Proposal or Paper	30 April 2008
Notification of Acceptance	15 June 2008
Submission of Final Manuscript	15 July 2008

Submission Requirements

• Papers should be original and not published in other journals, conferences, magazines etc
  
• Manuscripts should not be longer than four (4) pages and should be presented in a double-column format
  
• Only electronic submission would be accepted

All submissions would be peer-reviewed by the technical and advisory committee. Accepted work may be presented by the author(s). Selected papers would be published.

Professionals and volunteers with a vested interest in the continued development and success of disability sports at both Asian and international levels will find this conference informative and practical.

Delegates will include key decision-makers in national, state and professional sporting organisations, including:

coaches and officials, high performance staff, disability clubs management personnel, administrators including presidents, secretaries, treasurers, school sport professionals, teachers, curriculum developers, professionals working in industries that service sport, disability sport federations, academies of disability sport, local government associations, sport management and sports science students, fitness and recreation industry managers.
