CAP Day 2006 is the combination of SDSC’s previous Leisure and Recreation Day with a talent identification programme into a carnival for all abled and disabled Singaporeans. Apart from the usual fun and games during the Leisure and Recreation Days of previous years, CAP Day 2006 will see persons with disabilities trying out the various sports offered in SDSC’s sporting programs in a carnival-like atmosphere. Participants can also take part in games that test their hand-eye coordination, thinking skills and sport specific skills (hitting, throwing, kicking), etc.

Talent Identification

For the talent identification programme/component, interested participants will be put through a variety of tests to assess their movement, body coordination, aerobic / anaerobic capacities and sport-specific suitability to play certain sports. Coaches from the various sports will be present to assess these participants while they carry out specific activities. An assessment sheet will be completed at the end of the exercise, which would indicate the participants’ suitability to play those sports. Sports stations of the various sports (athletics, wheelchair racing, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair tennis, table tennis, boccia, powerlifting and soccer) will be available for tryouts.
