The National Disability League will replace the National Disability Games, beginning this year.
Instead of staking all bets on a one-time off competitive event, athletes will now get to pit their skills against each other for a prolonged period before a winner emerges. The newly-set up National Disability League will provide a competitive platform for athletes over 4 to 6 months.
During this league season, players and teams will compete in either round-robin matches or series fixtures. For each win, the team or individuals will get points. Those who accumulate the most points at the end of the season will emerge as the league champion/s.
Competition is one of the key factors to achieving sports excellence and furthering sports development. By providing a prolonged competition platform, athletes will gain increased competitive exposure, learn from other athletes of different performance levels and improve analysis skills by developing and changing strategies to win.
