Results of DSE Long Course Championships 2006 (New!)
See photos of the send-off and welcome-back here
The DSE Long Course Championships 2006 is the biggest international disability event in England. This year, over 300 swimmers from 19 countries are taking part, including Argentina, Brazil, Iceland and Singapore. Some of the world’s best are taking part as well, e.g. Clodoaldo Silva from Brazil and Israel’s Izhak Mamistvalov, six-gold winner and double gold winner in the Athens 2004 Paralympics respectively.
The Championships have been sanctioned by the International Paralympic Council (IPC). This means that all swimmers’ timings will be recorded in the IPC world ranking chart. Swimmers will then be able to know how they stand against other swimmers around the world. The Telkom South Africa National Aquatic Championships in April 2006 was the last IPC-sanctioned championships that Singapore took part in. Theresa Goh, the national representative, missed a world record for 50m Breaststroke by 0.05 seconds.
Singapore’s Lim Keng Joo, Theresa Goh, Wong Meng Ee and Yip Pin Xiu set off on the morning of 4th July, together with Coach Ang Peng Siong, for the Championships.
