Team Singapore’s para athletics squad opened their 2026 campaign in style, clinching two gold medals at the Dubai World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2026, held from 10 to 13 February.

James Ethan Ang stormed to gold in the Men’s 100m T13, clocking 11.48s in a thrilling photo finish against Kenya’s Jairus Ongeta Okora. The performance also marked a new national record. Okora was ranked world no. 21 in the event in 2025, while James entered the competition ranked no. 32.

Meanwhile, teammate Muhammad Diroy Bin Noordin also struck gold in the Men’s Shotput F40/41, registering a throw of 8.40m. The mark surpassed his winning distance at the ASEAN Para Games just three weeks earlier.
